Lose Weight the Fengshui Way

Yes, it is true that the principles of Fengshui not only help in bringing harmony in our environment but can also help in loosing those extra kilos!

The basic principle of Fengshui is the balance of Yin and Yang. According to the Chinese philosophy, every aspect of our life is divided into Yin and Yang. The life force energy called as Chi also has two forms-Yin and Yang. In spite of being opposite, they are complementary. Striking a balance between the two is the basis of a healthy and happy life.

Similarly food items are also divided into Yin, Yang and Neutral groups. A healthy and balanced diet should have the right combination of these three. Normally our diet should have 60-70% of Yin and 30-40% of Yang food items. An imbalance in these quantities causes disease and lowers the efficiency of the body. It also hampers harmony in relationships.

Fruits, vegetables, honey, almonds, bamboo shoots are considered yin and milk, cheese, coffee, meat and spices are considered yang. Wheat and rice are neutral.

Our bodies are also classified into yin, yang and neutral. A person is considered yin if he is 20 pounds extra than his ideal weight. Similarly he will be yang if he is 20 pounds less than the ideal weight. This clearly shows that by carefully balancing the food items we can easily increase or decrease our weight.

Food rich in yang components make us irritable, hyperactive and action oriented where as food rich in yin components make a person slow analytical, intuitive, lazy, insecure and depressed. In both the cases work efficiency of the person gets affected. This again shows that we can monitor our mood by the food we eat. This can be put to a very effective practical use –choosing the food type according to the activity one is going to undertake. For example it will be a good idea to eat yang rich food before a sports meet or an action packed day and yin meal before settling down to read a book or negotiating a deal!
